Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

Public Relations Society of America’s Position on DEI

At the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), our commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) is unwavering. In recent years, DEI initiatives have become vastly criticized and often weaponized, leading to confusion among the general public. This has resulted in companies and organizations reconsidering or even retreating from their commitments due to shifting political and social pressures. Despite these challenges, PRSA remains steadfast in our belief that DEI is not a passing trend — it is fundamental to the future of public relations, business and society.

    PRSA Colorado's DEI Statement

Advancing diversity, equity and inclusion is critical to successfully engaging with the public, building trust, developing authentic relationships, inspiring creativity and cultivating stories that reflect different communities' unique needs and perspectives. PRSA Colorado's Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Committee seeks to advance the profession of public relations by deepening the narrative on issues that matter to historically underrepresented groups, advocating for a more culturally inclusive mindset, actively promoting the profession to aspiring practitioners from all backgrounds, providing resources to members to help them intentionally incorporate DEI practices in their work, and by encouraging more diverse representation among PRSA leadership roles.
