Student Shadow Week
As a part of PRSA Colorado's student outreach efforts, we host an annual Student Shadow Week event. In-person or virtually, Student Shadow Week pairs public relations students from universities in the region with working professionals for a day-in-the-life of a working PR professional experience.

Shadow Week is all about showing the breadth and depth of a modern-day PR professional’s career. Whether students are interested in corporate communications, agency, non-profit, governmental sector, or running their own business, this is an opportunity to spend time with a Colorado PR pro and learn about the ever-changing role of the communications industry - from social media and influencer marketing to crisis communications coordination and employee advocacy.
Students and professionals can opt for either a shadow day, where the student spends a full day experiencing the life of a PR professional, or less formal virtual chats, removing potential barriers to entry for students who may encounter obstacles due to time or location constraints.
Shadow Week 2026 will be taking place March 9 - 13 and registration is open for both professionals and students.
In the meantime, enjoy some tips from local public relations executives from a past shadow week to help you get hired:
