PRSA Colorado Benefits

    As one of the 10 largest chapters in the nation, PRSA Colorado offers members a tremendous network in which you can actively benefit from and participate in to help shape the current and future landscape of our industry. 

    Professional Development

    • Continuing Education/Professional Development Programs - PRSA Colorado’s professional development programs feature a timely topic with wide appeal. The meetings provide an excellent networking opportunity, with more than 50 area professionals in attendance. PRSA Colorado members receive a 25 percent discount on event registration. 
    • Annual Chapter Summit - PRSA Colorado offers a full day of engaging discussions, case studies, and relevant presentations for Colorado’s public relations professionals. Featuring top talent from some of the most noteworthy industries and companies in the state, the summit focuses on best practices for developing meaningful and effective communications strategies. Anyone is welcome to attend this full day of learning, a half-day, or solely the keynote speaker lunch. Members receive a discounted rate.
    • Accreditation - Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) is the only professional certification program open to public relations professionals, and is administered by the Universal Accreditation Board (UAB). PRSA Colorado helps candidates prepare for the Examination for APR and membership is required to retain the designation, which requires fulfillment of maintenance requirements set forth by PRSA. 

     

    Networking

    • Events - PRSA Colorado offers a variety of events each month focused on professional development and networking. Members receive discounted rates to attend.
    • Committees - PRSA Colorado's committee volunteers are vital to the success of our chapter. Countless hard-working members devote time and energy to committees, allowing them to build a closer working relationship with other professionals, further develop their professional skills and learn new skills, too. You must be a PRSA Colorado member to volunteer on a committee (or serve on the Board of Directors). Committee and board volunteers have a much stronger professional network than their colleagues who don’t volunteer with the chapter. 
    • Directory - A searchable directory listing of all members is provided on PRSA Colorado’s website and can only be accessed by members.
    • Community - Share your content and drive thought leadership by contributing to the PRSA Colorado blog, commenting on our social properties, and sharing your voice at events. 


    Awards

    • Gold Pick Awards - In 1966, the Chapter created the Gold Pick Awards to honor the region’s best work in public relations and has grown to be the state’s most prestigious awards recognition program for PR practitioners. The awards competition is open to all PR practitioners who reside in Colorado. 
    • Special Awards - As a part of the Gold Pick Awards, PRSA Colorado annually honors the achievements of individuals and organizations in public relations through recognition of best practices and high ethical standards among leaders and peers in the industry. Some of the Special Awards are only open to PRSA Colorado members, but anyone may submit a nomination.

     

    COMMUNITY OUTREACH

    • PR Paid Forward - PRSA’s community outreach program, PR Paid Forward, is an opportunity for PRSA Colorado members to partner together to lend expertise to nonprofits around the metro area. Nonprofits are asked to submit their most pressing PR/communications challenge, and PR pros will be matched to consult on how to tackle those challenges this fall.
    • Student Outreach - PRSA Colorado actively engages and support local PRSSA chapters. As a part of these efforts, we host an annual Shadow Day to a virtual format in 2021. This is a great opportunity for professionals to provide guidance and support to PR and communications students and our partner PRSSA Chapters.
