In today’s digital world, PR pros need to find creative ways to keep the brand’s momentum up. That means getting your content—the right content—in front of your stakeholders, including reporters. But how do you accomplish it quickly, with the accurate message you want to convey, while linking it to social media and earning SEO value?

It begins with Brand Journalism—a hands-on journalistic, storytelling approach that lets you power your storytelling. Join renowned keynote speaker Mark Ragan, CEO of Ragan Communications and Co-founder of Ragan Consulting Group, as he discusses how an interactive newsroom is what Brand Journalism really is; why every organization must become a media outlet, and how your old-fashioned newsroom is hurting you.

Ragan has helped companies such as Cape Cod Healthcare, Denver Water, the University of Alberta and Pittsburgh International Airport create world-class brand journalism strategies. And while those organizations may have different business goals in their respective industries, their approach to communications has much in common:

    • Tell your own story—and tell it much better
    • Establish editorial standards that define your work
    • Create a News Desk mentality and editorial process that break down silos between PR, marketing, internal comms and other communications disciplines
    • Train communicators to conceive and produce content from different business units, within the regulatory or privacy boundaries they must navigate
    • Deliver those stories in a timely fashion on the web, in print, through video and infographics
    • Measure the effectives of your brand journalism efforts

    About Mark Ragan

Mark Ragan is the CEO of Lawrence Ragan Communications and publisher of four daily news sites, including PR Daily and Ragan.com. He began his career as a newspaper reporter and writer long before the term “content producer” had been invented. During his 15-year career, he covered business and politics for The San Diego Tribune, Copley News Service and New York Newsday. He ended his career as a journalist in 1992 after covering three presidential elections, including Ronald Reagan’s landslide victory over Jimmy Carter in 1980.

Today, in addition to his CEO responsibilities at Ragan, Mark is the co-founder of Ragan Consulting Group, along with long time business partner Jim Ylisela. Together, he and Ylisela have helped companies build their own news and brand journalism sites, beginning with the premise that businesses should “stop begging the media and become the media instead.
