    Leadership “Superpowers” for PR Professionals

As leaders in the public relations industry, we possess more power than we think. Sometimes, our power comes from position, title, circumstances or information. Other times, power derives from more personal sources, such as our expertise, our vision or unique characteristics. How can we recognize our own sources of leadership power and channel them for good? Which powers work for which situations? And what distinctive leadership qualities are required to lead the public relations industry bravely and boldly into the future?

In this session, Matt West, an executive coach and the global head of training and facilitation for Golin, will guide you through a series of interactive exercises and brainstorms designed to help you see leadership — and, more specifically, PR leadership — in a new light.

    Participants will learn:

    • How to identify, cultivate and hone your leadership powers
    • Specific superpowers that will define the public relations leaders of tomorrow
    • Common roadblocks to leadership in our industry and how to overcome them

The Leadership Development Program is offered as a pre-conference session and is a valuable opportunity for PR professionals to gain specific leadership skills. Registration to the Western District Conference is not required and non-PRSA members are also welcome. The 2.5-hour program will run from 9:00-11:30am on Wednesday, April 11.
