Role/company: Marketing and Economic Development Specialist for the Brighton Economic Development Corporation

Favorite Colorado activity: Hiking or anything that involves being outside. I also enjoy camping, but only if I have someone to go with me.

What's your proudest career accomplishment or milestone in the last year? Seeing the results from my 2019 marketing and territory expansion plan in my last role. We were pushing hard into a very competitive new market, and I was in charge of the marketing strategy, budget, and implementation. It was such a challenge! When I saw our total work orders (number of jobs done) had increased 400% year over year, I was ecstatic and so proud of what my team had accomplished.

What are you looking to get out of PRSA? A network of like-minded people. It's so invigorating to speak with people in your field. I love being able to bounce ideas off of one another and progress our industry. I've also been blessed with a number of fantastic mentors throughout my career in copywriting, creative implementation, data analysis, and marketing strategy. I would love to have a mentor in PR, as that's what I'm newest to, and I would love to be able to mentor someone who is new to the world of marketing.

Looking at the disruption and feelings of anxiety the COVID-19 outbreak has caused, is there a personal takeaway you could share that you'll carry forward?
My biggest takeaway from living through COVID is diversification. Not in stocks, but in life. Diversify your life. Have multiple hobbies, have multiple skills, and enjoy as much of it as you can. I know that specialization in a career is important, but so is understanding and being able to creatively pull knowledge from different processes to solve problems like you never had before — to create things that didn’t exist before.
