RiNo Communications: The art of storytelling — A Kaleidoscope of Perceptions Tearing Down, Rebuilding & Raising Brand Awareness

By Brooke Gabbert, PRSA Colorado member
You may remember when Ink Coffee in Five Points — one of the four complex neighborhoods in the River North Art District (RiNo) — proudly displayed a sidewalk sign with the message: “Happily Gentrifying the Neighborhood Since 2014.”
Unfortunately for the coffee shop, the story was picked up by national media, including The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times. The RiNo Art District and the City of Denver were thrust into the national spotlight, magnifying the challenges of a burgeoning and diverse area undergoing rapid transformation.
Join Jamie Licko, president of the RiNo Art District, Sam Bailey, vice president of Economic Development at the Metro Denver Economic Development Council and Randy Thelen, vice president of Economic Development for the Downtown Denver Partnership, as they discuss strategies that have been implemented to maintain an authentic and inclusive community, while managing the challenges and opportunities that come with growth.
